There are two semesters in an academic year at Zaman University. The first semester starts on 12th of October 2010 and ends on 17th of February 2011. The second semester starts on 28th of February 2011 and ends on 1st of July 1 2011.
Since the exact dates of the public holidays in 2011 have not been approved by the Government of Cambodia yet, the dates in 2011 are subject to change.
Yes, admission to Zaman University is based upon your result in the Entrance Examination (see exceptions for Zaman International School’s graduates).
The Entrance Examination consists of 60 multiple-choice questions:
- Mathematics: 20 questions
- Physics: 20 questions
- IQ: 20 questions

To be admitted to Zaman University, all students must meet the minimum requirements as follow:
• High school diploma (You should have graduated or be graduating from a high school)
• At least “D” grade from Grade 12 National Examination (Bac. II)
• National ID card
• Fully filled application form
• Pass (“P”) grade from the Zaman University Entrance Examination
• 4 passport size photos
Students who are interested in studying at Zaman University must personally fill out an application form at the university’s campus. Officers at the university’s Student Affairs will schedule a date for you to sit in the Entrance Examination. The university will get back to you at least in 1 week time (from the date you take the Entrance Examination) to accept or reject your application. After being accepted into studying at the university, you should come to the university with the Letter of Offer and register within a week. If the registration is not completed within a week, the university does not guarantee a place for you.

The university will contact you about the outcome of your application and other matters via email and phone.
If you do not have potential in academic studies, your admission might be rejected. Zaman University has a number of tools in identifying your potential. Please refer to the admission requirements.

No, the exam is in Khmer Language. Prospective students do not have to know English. International students may have to request the English version of the Entrance Examination from the officer at the registration office.
Applicants need to pay $10 application fee to schedule a date and session to sit for the Entrance Examination.
Students need to bring:
• National ID or passport with a picture on it
• Receipt of Application Fee
Starting from 5th of June 2010, the entrance examination is available every Saturday. After filling out the application form, prospective students should schedule a date and session with the Office of Student Affairs.
There are totally 60 questions comprising three main subjects:
• Mathematics (20 questions)
• Physics (20 questions)
• Logic (20 questions)

The level is similar to Grade 12 Examination. The type of the questions will be multiple-choice. The questions mainly measure students’ logical and reasoning skills as well as mathematical knowledge.

Prospective students are given 2 hours to complete the Entrance Examination.
Yes, there is no any English test in the Entrance Examination because some of the prospective students may not be well-versed in English but be good at Mathematics and Sciences. We would like to give opportunity in taking the Entrance Examination to everyone who has potential in studying at Zaman University regardless of their ability in using English.

There is no scholarship schema for the Entrance Examination. There will be another examination called “The Scholarship Examination”. Scholarships will be given to those who will do well in the Scholarship Exam which is done on 11th of September 2010, at 10:00 am.
The medium of instruction at Zaman University is English.
The academic environment at Zaman University is challenging and demanding. You should have good skills of English language in order to satisfactorily complete your major. Therefore, all students in the academic year 2010-11 must enroll in the English Prep School.
Yes. Based on the consideration that there is limited usage of English in Cambodia, we have to make sure that 100% of our students can satisfactorily communicate well in English and successfully study their major especially in the first year. We want students to further sharpen their English language skills even if their language abilities are good in the test scores mentioned.
The instructors of Zaman University’s prep school are qualified and experienced native speakers and educators who are experts in the field of teaching English as a second language.

There will be 20-30 students in each of the Prep School class.
For English Prep School students, there will be 2 sessions available, either in the morning or afternoon. There will be weekly additional 2 hours of portfolio to be arranged with your lecturer. You will do projects concerning with the usage of English language together with your lecturer and classmates. Timing is flexible.

Firstly, you will be placed in a homogeneous classroom after the English Placement Test (EPT). Your English language skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) will be improved with modern learning techniques based on the criteria set in the Common European Framework of References for Languages.
After taking the English Placement Test (EPT), you will be assigned to an appropriate level and placed in a homogeneous classroom according to your EPT result.

No, every registered student must sit for the English Placement Test. The English Prep School will determine the level of your English language skills according to the result of the test.
The academic environment at Zaman University is challenging and demanding and the medium of instruction is in English. In the academic year 2010-11, all registered students must sharpen their English Language skills in order to successfully study their majors. Students who have good English Language skills will be allocated into a special class which provides advanced curriculum and activities.
It will be a 2-hour test.
This test will determine the level you shall study in at the English Prep School. So, the questions will test your reading, grammar, listening and writing skills. According to the result of the test, you will be placed in an appropriate level and classroom.
Zaman University adopts the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to determine the level of students at the English Prep School. Please see the table below to have an idea about levels. You will be placed into one of them.

There is a saying: “Apples should be compared with apples; oranges should be compared with oranges.” It is not reliable to make direct comparison between different test scores. Every test score should be determined with another score of the same test, not another score of a different test.
You will be given assignments by your lecturer to work as a team. After completing the assignments, you have to present your findings in front of a committee composed of lecturers who will assess your work and presentations.
You will sit for the English Proficiency Test and you should get at least a “B” grade to pass. This test will be done as early as in June 2011. If you fail, you will be given another chance in September 2011.
There is no jumping among the levels. Whatever level that you will start at the Prep School, you will carry on with that level until you take the Proficiency Exam in June 2011. The curriculums of the levels are designed to improve your language skills in all aspects continuously and you are expected to be ready to take the Proficiency Exam in June 2011.
Yes, because the Proficiency Exam will be offered only in June 2011. We encourage you to sharpen your language skills no matter which level you are in. The more you work on the language skills, the better they will be. Based on the considerations of the limited use of English in Cambodia, you should go on with the support given by the university until June 2011.
The exhaustive and demanding program for A1 level is designed to improve your skills to pass the Proficiency Exam in June 2011. Even if you fail, you will be given one more chance to sit in another Proficiency Exam in September 2011.
The university will offer evening and weekend English Language programs. You can register with any of them. The university will announce the availability of such programs at a later date.
At the present, the four Faculties of Zaman University offer degrees in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Banking & Finance, Computer Science, Graphic Design & Multimedia, Management Information Systems, and English Language Teaching.

Lecturers at Zaman University are qualified and experienced professors, native speakers and educators who have demonstrated excellent academic skills in their fields.
For the English Prep School, there will be 2 sessions available, either in the morning (8 am – 12 pm) or in the afternoon (13 pm – 17 pm), from Monday to Friday.

For all faculties, the weekly workload depends on your selection of courses and schedule. Please bear in mind that there will be 30 hours of lectures, tutorial and labs etc., plus 15 hours self-study to successfully complete your major.

Students who enroll in the academic year 2010-11 will study one year in the English Prep School + 4 years degree = 5 years.
Depending on your selection of courses and schedule, you will take at least 18 credits (6 modules) in a semester.
You should personally apply to the department that you want to study in. The departments have stringent rules in transferring credits and might ask you to take exemption tests.
For the 2010 – 2011 academic year, tuition fees at Zaman University range from $1,000 to $2,000 per semester depending on the programs students enroll in. In addition, students should be aware that there is also a $400 registration fee at the beginning of each semester.

Yes. Students who have promising academic potential can apply for a scholarship. The only criterion to apply for a scholarship is to do well in the Scholarship Examination, which is to be held on 11th of September 2010.

After completing your registration with the university, fill up a scholarship application and submit it to the registration office. You will have to sit in for the scholarship exam on 11th of September at 10:00 a.m. at Zaman University campus.

The Zaman University Senate will make the final decision on the amount of the scholarship given in the academic year 2010-11. The amount that a candidate will get depends on the level of success in correctly answering the questions in the Scholarship Examination.
No, the scholarships are given to needy and academically promising students only to pay their tuition fee. All students must pay the registration fee.
No. As long as your GPA is over 70% success and your good conduct prolongs, you will continue to receive the scholarship. If any of the above criteria is breached, your scholarship will be ceased.
