A Message from the Rector:

When I was first offered to lead a new university in Cambodia, I was a bit shocked but hopeful at the same time because I knew the sufferings that the country had gone through. In fact, Cambodians have suffered a lot from the past civil wars. Cambodia is now confidently moving forward to have a better future with its people, institutions and government as well as non-government bodies.

Parents, business leaders and government officials have been encouraging Zaman Schools, already operating since 1997, to start a university for quite some time. The time has finally come and we are now ready to provide a quality university education in Cambodia.

Universities play a major role in supplying quality human resources into the market. This will not only improve the standard of living of the people, but also attract more foreign investments. In this respect, Zaman University has a lot to offer to all fellow Cambodians and the people in the region with our student-centred approach, qualified and experienced academicians and a university experience at the international standard.

Zaman University has prepared its curriculum according to the principles in a student-centred learning. This approach not only inculcates skills like critical-thinking, reasoning, problem-solving, presentation and communication into our students, but also prepares them for a rapidly changing world. Students who are equipped with these skills contribute significantly to the development of Cambodia and the region.

Zaman University brings qualified and experienced academicians on board to make sure that the students will benefit a lot from their years of experience and deep knowledge.

It is an unfortunate practice in Cambodia that quite a number of students study at two universities at the same time. This puts the university education sector in Cambodia at risk by not being recognized at national and international arena. Zaman University is determined to overcome this unfavourable practice by pushing the international standard in university education in which students spend 20-25 hours in classroom and 10-15 hours for self-study or group work.

The rapidly changing world and technological advancements have been redefining the way we lead our life. To illustrate, just 5 years ago there was almost no mention of social networking sites. It is strategic for Zaman University to abreast the changes which unceasingly take place in every aspect of life and prepare our students for a dynamic and mobile future. In this respect, our degree programs are specifically catered for current and future needs in the local, regional and global market. Our experienced and forward-thinking academicians will make sure that the curriculum stay relevant at all times.

I wholeheartedly welcome you all to come on and join us at Zaman University for a unique university education experience!
